Our goal is to engage voters and nonvoters alike. The more New Jerseyans learn about the issues that affect our daily lives, the more ownership we will have and our engagement in our democracy will increase. ATNJ Education Fund works in all ways to improve the access to the voting booth and to lower barriers to voting for everyone.
One recent accomplishment was getting the Vote By Mail law to be fully funded saving hundreds of thousands of New Jersey voters from being dropped from voting by mail. We worked with members of the Legislature up until the Friday before Christmas to get legislation introduced and passed in the remaining lame duck session in Jan 2020.
Another effort is to ensure that Spanish speakers get the voter education that they need. Our preliminary data showed that counties with higher Spanish speakers showed a clear correlation to mail ballot rejection. We have a professional Spanish translator who volunteers with us to provide all the translation.
